Moriyama Teshima Architects Announces Two New Partners

Moriyama Teshima Architects is proud to announce the appointment of two new partners: Phil Silverstein and Ben Feldman.

Both Phil and Ben bring deep expertise, steadfast leadership, and a long-standing commitment to the firm’s design excellence and collaborative culture. Their appointment marks a significant milestone in the continued evolution of MTA as we expand our capacity to deliver innovative, sustainable, and community-oriented architecture.

About the New Partners

Phil Silverstein, B.Arch., AATO, LEED AP BD+C, GRP

A member of the firm since 2001, Phil has managed some of MTA’s most ambitious, fast tracked, and sustainable projects, including Limberlost Place at George Brown College, the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation (OSSTF) Headquarters, and the TMU Centre for Urban Innovation. With over two decades of experience in project management, contract administration, and mass timber design, Phil’s leadership has been central to MTA’s mission to deliver high-performance, low-carbon buildings. These projects showcase his commitment to blending innovation with sustainability while navigating challenging timelines and stakeholder demands. His ability to align large project teams around complex design challenges reflects his collaborative approach and technical depth fostering trust and efficiency.

Ben Feldman, OAA, MRAIC, PMP, LEED GA

Ben first joined MTA in 2007 and worked as a design architect on the firm’s post-secondary and public projects until 2012, when he left to tackle new challenges as a client-side project manager on a variety of complex, large-scale government projects. Never wavering in his passion for design in shaping the future of our environment and communities, Ben gladly brought his project leadership skills back to MTA in 2019 as Studio Manager and Principal. Providing project management and team-building guidance, Ben has instituted tools and processes for improved efficiency, accountability, and communication across the firm’s portfolio. Ben has also been deeply involved in business development, building MTA’s current marketing team and contributing to numerous successful pursuits. Beyond his firm-wide responsibilities, Ben has kept a focus on public-facing, sustainable design, leading institutional projects including the Victoria University Goldring Student Centre Renewal (U of T) and the NBCC Clean Energy Institute.

“Designing facilities that are beautiful and sustainable is in the DNA of Moriyama Teshima Architects. The ethos in our office has always been to build buildings that better the community, both visually and sustainably and I look forward to carrying this legacy forward in my new role as Partner.” – Phil Silverstein

“Moriyama Teshima Architects is a place for big ideas, and also a place where we roll up our sleeves and make those ideas into a practical reality. This is a place where we have a deep legacy, but stay future-focused, innovative, and hopeful. To find a place in the continuum of this firm, to be trusted to help carry all of this into the future, is a dream and an honour.” – Ben Feldman

Please join us in congratulating Phil and Ben on their well-deserved partnership. We look forward to the exciting new directions their leadership will take us.
