Poplar Road Public School (Mass Timber Replacement School)

Poplar Road Public School establishes the Toronto District School Board’s first mass timber replacement school as a model for low-carbon educational design. Replacing Jack Miner Senior Public School, originally designed by Raymond Moriyama in 1958, the new 341-student building will serve as both a contemporary learning environment and a community gathering place. Mass timber construction and low-carbon mechanical systems establish a new standard for sustainable school design, pairing warmth and durability with long-term environmental performance.
