It is back to school time for everyone, and we at Moriyama & Teshima Architects are reflecting upon some of the recent educational facility projects we have had a hand in – specifically, the newly renovated University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) Meeting Place renovation.
This significant campus building, a retrofit of the historically listed William G. Davis Building, offers UTM students a newly refreshed area in which to study, gather, and dine. The space planning of the renovation integrated a strategy of forming defined zones through a layout of flexible, adaptable, durable furniture and millwork; delineating clear program edges while providing a light, open, spatial experience. MTA is eager to observe the ways in which the renovations implemented at the UTM Meeting Place will enhance this vital hub, where UTM community members can eat, meet with friends and colleagues, study, or relax during class breaks.
