We are very excited to announce that the MTA-designed Canada Pavilion at the recent World Expo in Dubai has won a 2022 LOOP Design Awards (Temporary Architecture Category)!
It is rewarding to receive positive feedback on this highly distinctive design – Visitors approaching the pavilion were greeted by a spectacular curved facade constructed of woven sections of Douglas Fir, one of Canada’s most valued tree species. A plentiful, sustainable, and rapidly renewable resource, the selection of wood as the primary material expression of the Canada Pavilion conveyed an important introductory message to Expo visitors, demonstrating our country’s commitment to an ecologically minded and sustainable presence on the global stage.
Thank you to everyone who took the time to cast a vote in support of this project. Congratulations to all 2022 LOOP Design Award recipients.
