MTA Team Field Trip to Sudbury, Ontario

MTA’s Toronto and Ottawa offices merged in Sudbury last week for a day of fun and interesting building tours, starting with the French River Visitor Welcome Centre, an award-winning project by Baird Sampson Neuert Architects. Our second stop was MTA’s award-winning Place des Arts where Executive Director Jean-Gilles Pelletier and Technician Shelby Lebeau gave us an extensive tour including back-of-house spaces, detailing this amazing building’s functionality.

Next up was a tour of Laurentian University McEwen School of Architecture with Director Dr. Tammy Gaber. Designed by LGA Architecture, the building showcases cross-laminated timber, steel-and-concrete, and adaptive reuse construction. The Sudbury excursion ended at MTA’s legacy project, Science North & Dynamic Earth, and a fascinating tour with Director of Science, Julie Moskalyk and Staff Scientist, Bruce Doran.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to meet with our group, sharing behind-the-scenes stories and insights!
