More great news for the Mukwa Waakaa’igan Indigenous Centre of Cultural Excellence at Algoma University: The project has been shortlisted as a finalist in the 2022 World Architecture Festival Awards, Future Projects – Education category! We are very pleased to share this achievement with Smoke Architecture.

A new heart for Algoma University in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, the design of the Mukwa Waakaa’igan Indigenous Centre of Cultural Excellence intends to provide a safe space, welcoming visitors from across the globe to engage with and learn from Indigenous heritage. A significant project for many reasons, we cannot wait to present it to an international audience at the WAF Festival & Awards Conference in Portugal.
