As summer comes to a close, we are looking back to the beautiful sunny day we spent at the construction site of the new Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation Headquarters a few short weeks ago. The team at Moriyama & Teshima Architects had an excellent time with the leaders at Eastern Construction and BTY Group walking through the building structure. This mass timber marvel, currently underway in Toronto overlooking the Don Valley Ravine landscape, will seamlessly integrate commercial opportunities with the revitalization of the OSSTF/FEESO’s original HQ.
During the tour, we were able to observe the progress live in action – the 9m x 9m perlin and beam system being set in place by crane. An impressive project in the way of sustainable construction, building systems, energy generation, and operation, the new OSSTF Headquarters uses net-zero carbon strategies and is targeting LEED Platinum certification.
