One of the most significant MTA project milestones achieved in 2022 was the completion and opening of Place des Arts (PdA), the newest, most sophisticated, and highly sought after public arts and culture facility in Northern Ontario, designed by Moriyama & Teshima Architects with BĂ©langer Salach Architects. Located in downtown Sudbury, Place des Arts is a flexible space that provides services for a wide variety of activities and uses, while contributing to the surrounding urban context. Consisting of seven member arts organizations, PdA is an influential site of excellence for the city, focused on French-Canadian culture and community empowerment. This project, a recipient of the Architecture, Construction, and Design Award by Rethinking the Future, was featured in the November issue of Canadian Architect Magazine.
