Please join us in congratulating Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) alumna, Rutuja Atre, who is the recipient of the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) Guild Medal. This prize is awarded to a student whose thesis demonstrates an exemplary response to the climate crisis, with exceptional leadership through design excellence.
Rutuja, Intermediate Architect with Moriyama & Teshima Architects, is a graduate of the Department of Architectural Science at TMU. Her thesis project, entitled Towards an Ecocene: An Architecture of Hyper-Ecology, “demonstrates how architecture can operate sympathetically within ecological systems to accelerate the transformation from the Anthropocene — towards an ecologically aware and responsible era of the Ecocene”.
