Mukwa Wakkaa’igan, designed by Moriyama & Teshima Architects in collaboration with Smoke Architecture, will serve as facility of healing, cultural preservation, dialogue, and transformation as part of a bigger movement toward truth and reconciliation. The building’s architectural expression comes from the land, rising up through three paths that represent the past, present, and future, and standing above the abutting former residential school. This lifted position provides visitors a stronger, more dominant, and dignified vantage point from which to look upon the site’s history.
LOOP is an open platform to creativity and talent, where all the participants may showcase their best works, giving them great visibility around the world, and whose goal is to celebrate and honour diversity with remarkable works globally. We are very happy to have this internationally significant architectural structure recognized though this distinguished awards program.
