The Hazel McCallion Campus Student Centre (HMCSC or “Phase 2A”) at Sheridan College has earned two distinctions in the 2024 Grands Prix du Design Awards program – Gold Certification Prize in the Public Building / Higher Education & Research Building category and Platinum Winner of the Special Award: Architecture +Aluminum category!

Designed with Montgomery Sisam Architects, HMCSC offers a dynamic series of student-focused spaces that enhance the existing academic infrastructure while supporting and reinforcing the urban design objectives for the Sheridan College campus and the City of Mississauga. Additionally, the building’s material palette was selected to create a timeless architectural expression, while complementing the adjacent building fabric of the Civic District. Clad in a screen of extruded, white aluminum fins that vary in spacing and depth to provide adequate sun shading, this exterior system offers glimpses of the interior gym, fitness areas, and running track, generating interest to passersby.
