MTA’s Cathy McMahon to Present on Embodied Carbon Reduction Strategies at CLF Summer Series

Join Moriyama Teshima Architects’ Senior Associate Cathy McMahon tomorrow Wednesday, July 9th at 2:00 PM EST as she presents at the Carbon Leadership Forum’s Summer Series webinar on Embodied Carbon Reductions in the Built Environment. Cathy will be sharing insights from the award-winning Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF) Headquarters and Multi-Tenant Complex, which was recently recognized with an Architizer A+Award in the Commercial Office category.

The project team explored multiple structural design iterations and engaged early with mass timber suppliers to optimize material use and cost. By pairing passive design strategies, such as exterior shading devices, with careful structural and material decisions, the team balanced embodied and operational carbon reduction goals.

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn about key takeaways from real-world case studies and how design teams are driving carbon-conscious architecture forward.
