Canadian Architect Awards Celebration

We are honoured to have been recognized this past weekend at the Canadian Architect Awards of Excellence celebration in Montreal, for our 2022 winning project, Mukwa Waakaa’igan Indigenous Centre of Cultural Excellence at Algoma University. Eladia Smoke of Smoke Architecture, Mahsa Majidian of Moriyama & Teshima Architects, and Shannon Brooks of Algoma University accepted the award on behalf of the entire project team. As part of the university’s mission to teach the truth about the residential school system’s history in Canada and work toward healing and reconciliation, Mukwa Waakaa’igan Indigenous Centre of Cultural Excellence will be a facility of healing, cultural preservation, dialogue, and transformation.

Congratulations to each and every award recipient – we are truly inspired by all of your great work!
