Maya Desai Presenting “Invisible Disabilities in Architecture: Fostering Inclusion in Education and Design”

Maya Desai, Senior Urban Designer at Moriyama Teshima Architects, Chair of Environmental Design at OCAD University, and Visiting Professor at the University of Toronto will be leading a webinar on Thursday entitled “Invisible Disabilities in Architecture: Fostering Inclusion in Education and Design” as part of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada’s (RAIC) Promoting Equity and Justice (PEJ) Advisory Committee.

Building on the previous webinar held in 2023, this next session offers an opportunity to discuss how disability can be meaningfully addressed in architectural education, from pedagogy and curriculum to access, with the intent of transforming professional practice and design methodology. Participants will leave the seminar with a better understanding of what invisible disabilities are and the challenges they may pose for students and professionals in architecture, as well as some tools for how to foster more inclusive study and work environments.
