The University of Waterloo Mathematics4 (M4) Building has officially broken ground!
MTA attended the ceremony on campus earlier this week, to commemorate the beginning of this major project. M4, a 145,000 SF, highly innovative and sustainable building serving to enrich studies at the intersection of statistics, computer science, business, and mathematics. It will complement the existing academic facilities that make up the Faculty of Mathematics – the only post-secondary program singularly dedicated to the study of mathematics in North America.
MTA’s Brian Rudy, Damnieh Dehnadfar, Chris Ertsenian, Janice Chan, Julio Fay, Machiko Brissenden, and Sarah Xiaoyini Ni warmed up with a hot chocolate topped with #UWaterlooMath pink marshmallows while listening to the addresses made by President Vivek Goel, Dean Mark Giesbrecht, and Director of Indigenous Relations, Melissa Ireland. Thank you to all coordinators for making the event a success.
“It’s very exciting to see this project start construction! It feels like yesterday when I graduated from UW, and at that time, the Davis Centre was just completing construction. We are thrilled to be a part of UW’s esteemed math legacy.”
