The Rouge National Urban Park (RNUP) Visitor, Learning, and Community Centre has been selected as a Special Mention in this year’s Architizer A+Awards in the Unbuilt Sustainable Non-Residential category! The building has been designed to draw community members to this stunning outdoor area and will serve as the park’s primary orientation, learning, and events facility where visitors can learn about Rouge’s Indigenous, natural, cultural, and agricultural heritage.
Sustainability was a key design priority, reflected in the material selections which were chosen to minimize the project’s embodied carbon footprint and for biophilic purposes, including a mass timber structure, wood cladding, interior wood framing, wood finishes, and low carbon insulation.
