We at Moriyama Teshima Architects are thrilled to announce that Limberlost Place has been awarded this year’s Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) Research and Innovation in Architecture Award!
This special prize recognizes the work of an architect / architectural practice that exemplifies disciplinary knowledge in research and/or innovation in practice, technology, or pedagogy, and celebrates initiatives that advance professional practice and/or disciplinary knowledge. Limberlost Place, a joint venture with Acton Ostry Architects, is a highly sustainable, mass timber, net-zero carbon emissions institutional project currently under construction at George Brown College’s Waterfront Campus in Toronto’s East Bayfront neighbourhood. This achievement would not have been possible without the groundbreaking studies completed by Fast + Epp, structural engineers on the project, in addition to key contributions made by Transsolar KlimaEngineering, Introba, the University of Northern British Columbia, and Beiberech University.
Limberlost Place will be awarded this prestigious honour at the RAIC Conference on Architecture, taking place in Calgary next month. During this five day event, project Partner-in-Charge, Carol Phillips, will be speaking during a Continuing Education Session on Mass Timber Architecture and Construction on Thursday May 6th.
