Earth Day 2024

Happy Earth Day! 🌎

Today, we celebrate our extraordinary planet and reaffirm our firm’s commitment to sustainable building practices. For us, each project is an opportunity to demonstrate how sustainable and regenerative design is not only beneficial to our planet but can result in a uniquely beautiful design language.

In 2022, MTA Partner Carol Phillips, was featured in “Capturing Carbon” — a documentary created by Forest Products Association of Canada (Forestry for the Future ) and Natural Resources Canada (NRCan). Speaking on the use of mass timber in Limberlost Place at George Brown College (JV with Acton Ostry Architects Inc.), she expressed her appreciation of wood as a renewable, sustainable, and versatile building material.

“We have to start looking at what is fundamental to our building construction projects, and start looking at renewable resources and carbon sequestration. If we are going to continue to build – and we have to – let’s do it the right way.”
– Carol Phillips, Moriyama Teshima Architects
