Happy World Wood Day!
This annual event serves as a platform to raise awareness about the importance of forests and their role in environmental conservation. In Canada, where vast forested areas are a vital part of the national identity and economy, this celebration underscores the country’s commitment to sustainable forest management and the preservation of biodiversity. By emphasizing the value of wood in construction, design, and everyday life, World Wood Day in Canada promotes a harmonious relationship between humans and nature, ensuring the longevity of forests for generations to come.
Pictured here is the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF) Headquarters, a mass timber project of ours nearing completion in Toronto. Its structure is composed of nationally sourced timber materials, and is a leading example of sustainable design due to its low levels of embodied carbon throughout the whole building lifecycle.
