MTA Projects Featured in New Book, “Beyond the Divide – A Century of Canadian Mosque Design”

Congratulations to Dr. Tammy Gaber on releasing her new book, “Beyond the Divide – A Century of Canadian Mosque Design”.

Dr. Gaber is Director and an Associate Professor at the McEwen School of Architecture at Laurentian University where she teaches architecture design and theory courses. “This book explores the mosques of Canada in their diversity, beauty, practicality, and versatility,” she explains. Tammy has outlined the importance of mosque design on cultural and spiritual levels, analyzing both the interior and exterior characteristics of these buildings through their details, lighting quality, materiality, and context.

A number of Moriyama & Teshima Architects projects are featured, including the Noor Cultural Centre (previously: “Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre”, completed 1964), the Aga Khan Museum (designed with Maki and Associates, completed 2014), and the Ismaili Centre (designed with Charles Correa Associates, completed 2014) all located in Toronto, Ontario.
