National Indigenous Peoples Day

Today is National Indigenous Peoples Day – a day for all Canadians to recognize and celebrate the unique heritage, diverse cultures, and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples across Canada.

An exciting new feature is being added to the Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum in Kitchener – an Indigenous healing lodge. This land-based healing, teaching, ceremonial, land stewardship and education site will provide a much-needed, meaningful, accessible gathering space.

“It’s all part of the reconciliation process and providing an opportunity to use the land and offer programming that benefits the Indigenous community and others in the community,”
– Tom Galloway, Regional Councillor.
