The Daily Beast on the Toronto Reference Library

If you’ve ever planned a trip to Toronto, your itinerary may have included seeing a number of Moriyama & Teshima Architects-designed buildings. One that has attracted the attention of countless bookworms, literary buffs, and architecture enthusiasts alike is the Toronto Reference Library, located on Yonge Street in the illustrious Yorkville neighbourhood. For 45 years, this postmodern landmark has provided a beautiful space for the community to access educational and social services.

As described by firm-founder Raymond Moriyama:
“If it is to be truly ‘golden,’ architecture has to be humane and its intent the pursuit of true ideals, of true democracy, of equality and of inclusion of all people”.

Brandon Withrow of The Daily Beast has written a highly complimentary and informative article, expressing how he feels this building represents Raymond’s vision. Click this link to read the full piece.
