Carol and Jay Present Limberlost Place at CTBUH Conference in London

Moriyama Teshima Architects’ Partner, Carol Phillips, and Associate, Jay Zhao, presented at the 2024 Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) in London, UK on our joint project with Acton Ostry Architects Inc., Limberlost Place at George Brown College!

This mass timber, net-zero carbon emissions, landmark building is the recipient of two CTBUH Awards of Excellence (Innovation Award and Structure Award). Carol and Jay represented the project on behalf of the architectural team, while Fast + Epp Partner, Robert Jackson, spoke on behalf of the structural engineering team. It was an honour to have been recognized on this international stage, and we are very grateful for the exciting opportunity to share about Limberlost Place.

“It was invigorating and enlightening to dive deeply into the question of “New or Renew” especially in the vibrant city of London. The question is one we all have to grapple with and, if we do build new, we know we have to build better. There were many from all over the world present at the conference, who are making inspiring strides to building better as well as addressing how we live together. One great lesson is to be uncompromising in one’s commitment to the public realm – this is critical to make high density environments healthy and livable. The CTBUH Conference is coming to Toronto next year, and we need to turn the lens on ourselves and start realizing all of this city’s potential.”
Carol Phillips, Moriyama Teshima Architects

We would like to thank everyone who contributed toward making the conference a success – all event organizers, judges, and other finalists.
