Carol Speaks Speaking at Screening of “Capturing Carbon”

A great time was had last night at the screening of the 2021 Forest Products Association of Canada documentary “Capturing Carbon”, which took place at Centre for Social Innovation Annex Lounge, as part of DesignTO Festival.

This short film, which features an interview with MTA Partner Carol Phillips, explores the role of forestry in wildfire mitigation, forestry regeneration, and sustainable construction. She addresses the question, “How can we future-proof our communities?”, a growing concern for the built environment, and shares how mass-timber projects like Limberlost Place at George Brown College are helping to build the low-carbon, “future-proof” communities of tomorrow.

The film screening was followed by a panel discussion reflecting on the themes of the film, including Carol, Robert Wright Professor, University of Toronto – John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design), Sean Thomas (Professor, Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design), and Stefan Novakovic as a moderator (Senior Editor, AZURE Media). Thank you very much to the Toronto Society of Architects for these dynamic photographs of the event.
