The Student and Athletic Centre Phase 2A (HMC2A) at Sheridan College’s Hazel McCallion Campus is a 2024 Regional World Architecture News (WAN) Award Americas winner!

MTA in joint venture with Montgomery Sisam Architects designed this new facility which offers a dynamic series of student-focused spaces that support the existing academic infrastructure, while reinforcing the recently developed urban design objectives for the Sheridan Campus and the City of Mississauga. The building material palette was selected to create a timeless yet unique building expression, while complementing the adjacent building fabric. Glimpses of the gym, fitness areas, and running track are visible from the exterior to create interest – from a distance, the play of light and shadow on the façade subtly transforms the building throughout the day, and at night the lantern-like glow of the building can be seen from afar.
