Carol Phillips, Moriyama & Teshima Architects Partner and sustainable design leader, delivered an engaging presentation at the 91st Annual World of Façades Conference!
Speaking to an audience of nearly 300 attendees, Carol detailed her team’s process in designing Limberlost Place at George Brown College and the new Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation Headquarters: both large-scale, mass-timber, sustainably-minded facilities currently under construction in Canada. Using these landmark projects as examples, the topics covered in her lecture included how innovative façade design and prefab envelope development not only contributes to the technical performance of the building, but also reduces the impact of construction in our communities, creating a healthier environment in the daily lives of the building occupants; how architects use energy modelling data in our creative process and for research; and how fresh air and natural daylight, through façade design are key players in the experience of these buildings.
