As a Partner at MTA, Brian’s special focus is on cultural and community-based projects, with a wide breadth of experience in educational, performing arts, corporate, and transportation projects. Brian’s strong design leadership searches out meaningful and right-sized solutions which do not compromise on sustainability or cultural sensitivity.
Brian has gained his reputation as a stalwart leader on large, complex, national, and international projects ranging from the Governor General’s award-winning Canadian War Museum, to the Etihad Museum in Dubai, and the multi-billion-dollar P3 Canadian Port of Entry at the Gordie Howe International Border Crossing. Other significant projects include the Waterloo Region Museum, Queenston Plaza Border Crossing Complex, Niagara Falls History Museum, Canon Canada’s Corporate Headquarters, and Place des Arts in Sudbury. A strong believer in the sustainable practice of adaptive re-use, Brian has managed several innovative projects such as the Discovery Science Centre in Halifax, (repurposed from a pre-existing power plant turbine hall), and the Humber College Building G project (a heritage designated Administration Building of the former Lakeshore Psychiatric Hospital).
In addition to being a talented design architect, Brian is a natural and highly respected collaborator, leading with humility, integrity, and quiet determination that garners ready respect from colleagues, consultants, and clients alike.
