Canada Pavilion at World Expo – Happy Canada Day!

In light of Canada Day tomorrow, the MTA team would like to share this video detailing the design concept which shaped the architectural expression of the Canada Pavilion at the recent World Expo in Dubai.

Visitors approaching the Pavilion were greeted by a spectacular curved facade constructed of woven sections of Douglas Fir, one of Canada’s most valued tree species. A sustainable, abundant, and rapidly renewable resource, the selection of wood as the primary material expression of the Pavilion conveyed an important introductory message to Expo visitors, demonstrating Canada’s commitment to an ecologically minded and sustainable presence on the global stage.

This video was created by in-house talent: Rehab Salama (Intermediate Architect), Laura Ye (Architectural Intern), and Salman Rauf (Junior Designer); and reflects the genuine consideration and sensitivity that went into designing this symbolic structure.

Wishing everyone a safe and fun Canada Day long weekend!
