Projects — International — Qatar Education City Faculty Club

Project Description[+]

Overview

Located at the nexus of the Education City campus, this five-star hospitality complex will foster professional collegiality, intellectual curiosity and interdisciplinary collaboration among an elite international faculty.

The Faculty Club’s luxuriously subdued materials palette, in rich shades of grey and taupe, includes polished stone, textured fabrics, panels of fritted privacy glass and dark-toned wenge wood. Among the club’s many amenities are a large club lounge, five-star hotel and spa accommodations (24 rooms), a 400-seat dining room and banquet hall with a commercial kitchen, a traditional Majlis conference area and six meeting rooms for up to 50, a café, retail souk and bank, a recreation and athletic centre, a business centre, a music room and a reading room.

The building’s massive, interlocking volumes refer to traditional Qatari architecture and are clad in regional stone to connect the building to the land. The entrance opens onto University City’s Hub Plaza, an oasis of water and greenery facing the Qatar National Library. Outdoor features include a central plaza with seating and tables, a sculpture garden, a large electronic media wall and a station for the People Mover transportation system.
